Getting paid

Learn how to get paid online with your Fygaro account.

All Fygaro-supported payment methods rely on third-party providers to process your transactions. These providers might charge additional fees, as well as enforce rules about what goods or services you can sell using their service. When you set up a payment method, check with the company providing the service to make sure you understand their rules and fees.

How you get paid

When you enable to be payed with credit and debit cards, it takes some time (1 business days in most cases) for the payment to go through and for the money to be credited into your local bank account. This is called the payment settlement process. After it's processed by your local bank, the money will show in your bank account.

Other payment providers, such as PayPal, Credix and Yappy, will have their own ways of getting funds from your customer to you. Check with the service you are using to find out how they will pay you.

You can also accept custom payment methods from your online checkout, such as cash on delivery, checks or bank transfers.

How a credit card payment gets processed

When your customer uses a debit or credit card to make a purchase, the process of getting that payment from the cardholder to your account is called payment processing. Here's a basic overview of the steps that happen:

Your customer gives their credit card information to you (either in person, online, or over the phone).
You send that information to your bank, called the acquirer.
The acquirer sends the information to the card issuer (the bank that issued your customers credit card) to check if the account is in good standing and if the account has enough credit to cover the purchase.
If everything is okay, the card issuer authorizes the transaction, which means it agrees to let the purchase go through.
The acquirer sends the authorization back to you, who can now complete the sale.
The card issuer sends the payment funds to the acquirer, who then sends the payment to your bank account.
Finally, the amount of the purchase is added to the customers credit card balance to be paid.
Your merchant account will usually receive the payment within 1-3 business days.

Please note that this is a simplified version of the payment process, there may be additional steps involved depending on the type of card and the processor.
